Anxiety Treatment Can Help
Relieve The Symptoms Of Phobias
Have you ever thought about how we form our opinions? We all have opinions.
There are times when ours match the majority of people and there are times
when we may stand alone in the way we think and feel. There are some
opinions that we feel very strongly about and will argue our point and
rarely waiver, and there are other things that we feel less strongly about
and will concede a point. It is truly a skill to be accepting of opinions
that differ from yours. I try to be understanding and accepting of others
because I think this world would be quite boring with out differences. The
opinions that are the hardest for me to accept are those that are based on
ignorance and misinformation. I find that I try to educate the person even
if I know that the opinion will not change.
One are that people seem to have opinions about, but are quite uninformed is
the area of mental health. There is still stigmas and shame attached to
having mental health issues. For some people the fear of being judged by
others adds to their mental health disorder by creating a need for treatment
of anxiety. This can complicate the life of the person greatly. We all
experience anxiety at varying levels during our lifetime. For most people
the anxiety comes and goes around a certain event or task that we need to
do. For others that have severe symptoms they may require treatment of the
anxiety in the form of in-patient or out-patient counseling. The treatment
of anxiety is most times dealt with on a one to one or individual counseling
session. As people are able to deal with their symptoms of anxiety they may
be more open to moving into group sessions. The group sessions are a useful
tool in advancing a person through their treatment of anxiety, but it is
often too stressful for the person to start in a group session.
Some anxieties can develop into phobias. A phobia is an intense fear that
creates such a level of anxiety that the person may cease to function. They
will have physical symptoms such as sweating, increased respiration higher
blood pressure and increased heart rate. The anxiety may cause a person to
panic and act irrationally in order to remove themselves from the source of
the fear. Some people are of the opinion that the person can control their
fears and only choose to act the way they do to gain attention. The lack of
understanding and judgment of people that have mental health issues is very
common. People need to try to understand and accept those that are dealing
with emotional issues. Mental illness is as natural as physical illness and
we all experience periods of mental health concerns at different stages in
our lives.
