Gout Remedies Like Eating
Foods That Are Low In Purines Can Make A Difference
If you are a woman under the
age of fifty, you may not have to worry about getting gout. However, if you
are male, and you are nearing forty years, you may have something to think
about. Not everyone gets gout, and those that do usually know it is coming
because it runs in the family. Though this is a very painful condition,
there are some gout remedies that people use to eliminate some of the pain
and lessen the duration and the number of painful flare ups that they have.
The best thing anyone can do for gout remedies is to monitor and alter the
diet. You have to learn about purines and what they mean to your body.
Purines turn into uric acid in your body, and when your liver cannot flush
it all out, this uric acid turns in to crystals that from in the joints,
most notably the joint of the big toe. This causes a lot of pain, and often
leads people search for gout remedies. Eating many of the foods that are low
in purines can mean a dramatic difference in a gout attack, and may even
prevent some of them from happening.
Another of the great gout remedies is to eat a lot of cherries when someone
feels a gout attack coming on. Though no one is really sure why this works,
it really seems to help many. You can try eating a half a pound of cherries
on the onset of an attack, but some eat as much as two pounds of them a day.
This is one of the easier gout remedies out there if you love cherries, but
might be a bit hard to take if you don’t. You can also drink real cherry
juice, or even find freeze dried cherries as a substitute. Some other fruits
may help in the same way as well.
Though you may not file this under gout remedies, it is something that can
help. If you drink, you might want to stop. When you drink alcohol, your
liver must process and then rid the body of that alcohol. That means it
cannot process the uric acid in your system, and gout flares up more often.
This is why many heavy drinkers get gout. You don’t have to give it up
completely, but you do want to slow down substantially if you really want to
stop the gout attacks and the pain and down time that comes with it.
