An Individual Can Definitely
Have A Nasal Spray Addiction
Many people do not realize
that they can become addicted to many over-the-counter medications, even
ones that are not ingested orally. A nasal spray addiction is a serious
matter that has many people concerned. The insidious nature of the problem
often goes unnoticed until it is too late.
If you can’t go a day or two without using your decongestant nasal spray you
could have a bit of a problem. A nasal spray addiction will creep up on you
in little time if you don’t use the product in moderation. Professionals
suggest that you only use the sprays when absolutely necessary.
However, many of us find that it is absolutely necessary more and more
frequently. When you have a nasal spray addiction you might find yourself
actually dependant on the effects of the decongestant. This is not to
suggest that the medication is addictive in itself. You actually wind up
relying on the effects rather than the medication itself.
Since the decongestant medication is not technically addictive many believe
that a nasal spray addiction is not really possible. The only real problem
that people who use the decongestant on a regular basis face is the
dependency on the product. This is not technically a nasal spray addiction.
However, there are those who do define the dependency as an actual
addiction. Also, your nasal passages easily become immune to the sprays.
This means that you will need to take higher doses of the product to feel
relief. For many of us this is enough to consider a dependency an actual
nasal spray addiction.
Some doctors will tell you to completely avoid taking this kind of
decongestant while others see no harm at all in the product. The crux of the
argument is how we actually define a nasal spray addiction. There are no
real psychological ramifications for taking the medication according to some
professionals.
Others argue that the simple fact that the user needs the product on a
regular basis whether or not he is ill or suffering from allergies indicates
that there is a serious reason to consider the nasal spray addiction as a
real threat that does, in fact, have psychological ramifications.
Some of us do feel that an individual can have a nasal spray addiction. The
problem actually lies in how the product is taken. If you take the
medication for more than three days in a row, you may find yourself becoming
dependant on it. The good news is that your body will repair itself in
little time if you stop using the product.
